About Khailoh
The etymology of "heal" goes back to the Proto-Indo-European root *kailo- "whole, uninjured." "Kalo" is also a Greek word with the same meaning. From "kailo" or "kalo" derived the Proto-Germanic *khailaz, literally "to make whole, sound, well.”
Khailoh (kay-loh), is a nod to this ancient root word, and also a nod to my mother’s heritage. The surname she was given at birth in Colombia was Jalilie. I learned later, though, that her immigrant grandfather—a Christian Palestinian who fled from the Israeli village of Beit Jala to Colombia with his brothers—had changed the spelling of their last name to Jalilie in order to keep the same pronunciation in Spanish. Originally, it was Khalilieh.
So, with these things in mind, Khailoh was born. The reason why I created this brand and this company has its own story, though. I wish it was prettier, but the fact is, life is ugly for a lot of us. It is that ugliness that brings us to our knees and causes us to seek for healing, love, light, greater knowledge, and freedom from the things that haunt us.
I have spent most of my life believing that something was wrong with me. Even from a young age I felt intrinsically flawed for a reason that I have never, and still don’t, understand. I think a lot of it had to do with things that happened to me as a child—as my views of myself and my world were forming. Most if it is probably due to the fact that I am a highly emotional person, and those emotions were so big that they scared me. I was told often how sensitive I was, to toughen up, to stop acting spoiled, that whatever I was feeling “wasn’t a big deal,” and so on.
As an adult, I explored these things with a psychologist and thought I had come to terms with the things in my past. Even with all this work, though, old habits and patterns kept resurfacing in my life. I had never found the wholeness that I was searching for. My faith helped, my relationships with friends and family members helped, my active lifestyle helped, footzoning helped, but I wanted more than just help to navigate these intense storms that were starting to derail my life. I wanted lasting change.
I found hypnotherapy in February of 2021 and I am so grateful for the changes it’s helped me implement in my life. It help me unlock all of these amazing abilities that I knew were inside of me, but that I just couldn’t seem to access—no matter how hard I tried. I knew immediately that I wanted to help other people find the same strength within themselves too, and the path before me became clear as I sought out certification to do so.
Hypnotherapy is an amazing tool to help reprogram the unconscious mind. The unconscious mind does so much for us without us even noticing. It controls our bodily functions like breathing, heart rate, digestion, etc. It also keeps us safe. Because of its job to keep us safe, sometimes it creates programs in childhood or during traumatic experiences to do so. Even after circumstances change, though, those programs can remain in place.
Hypnotherapy can help a person bypass their conscious mind to access these old programs and help to dismantle them. By doing so, more space is available for new, better habits. Gone can be the days of rehashing past trauma and hurt, constantly fighting against negativity in the mind, or feeling powerless to break bad habits.
If you’re ready to rediscover the person you are underneath all of the “junk” life has piled on top of you, let’s get started on your journey of healing. I want to help you remember and live as the most authentic version of you. I want to help you remember your wholeness, and bring back the pieces of you that are lost or restore the ones that are broken.
There are so many tools to aid in healing, hypnotherapy is one amazing one. Your mind and body want to heal, sometimes they just need a little nudge in the right direction. That’s what I’m here for. If you have more questions about hypnotherapy, visit this FAQ page.
